In addition to its new design, there is a new powertrain that includes either a refined and award-winning V6 or a new generation Hybrid system offering a Toyota estimated 34 mpg fuel economy.And it's loaded with safety, too. Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 is standard with all models of the new Toyota Highlander, and includes a Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection (PCS w PD), Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist (LDA w/SA), Automatic High Beam (AHB), Lane Tracing Assist (LTA) and Road Sign Assist (RSA).
In the case of the Highlander's Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, the system offers braking under certain circumstances, if the driver does not react in time. Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM), and Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) also show up, depending on trim levels.
Speaking of trim levels, the new Toyota Highlander is available in the new L grade, LE, XLE, Limited and top-shelf Platinum grade. The Highlander Hybrid is available in LE, XLE, Limited and Premium grades.

There's the entertainment factor, too! Through the Highlander's cutting-edge
entertainment and connectivity suite, the offerings are rather versatile. They
include a new 12.3-inch touchscreen display on the Highlander Platinum and
8-inch displays on other models. The available JBL Premium Sound System
delivers an out of this world 1,200 watts of power to turn any Highlander into
a concert venue on wheels.
On the outside, the new Toyota Highlander from Toyota of Brookfield, WI, is showing off a new, chiseled line that gives it a more powerful stance with a modern, sophisticated attitude. More confident, it is now bigger than ever. L, LE and XLE grades feature a black front grille with silver trim, while Limited and Premium models are set off by a black grille with chrome trim and a chrome-plated lower rear fascia, premium projector headlamps, and the Highlander's first-ever 20-inch wheels.
POWER MATTERS
Toyota Highlander buyers will have a choice of conventional or advanced hybrid powertrains. Starting with the award-winning 295-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 engine, which is the epitome of smoothness, it features Toyota's D4S direct-injection fuel delivery system which combines direct and port fuel injection in the same block for more efficient power and added fuel economy. It also yields up to 263 lb-ft of torque for generous towing capability. The V6 engine is mated to a Direct Shift 8-speed automatic transmission to maximize vehicle acceleration and highway merging capability in one tidy package. It also yields an available towing package capable of 5,000 pounds. The towing package also includes a heavy-duty radiator and engine oil cooler along with improved fan performance.The new-generation Toyota Highlander Hybrid is the most fuel-efficient Highlander Hybrid ever. The system uses Toyota's highly-efficient 2.5-liter DOHC four-cylinder engine that combines with two electric motors in a system that is more compact and efficient than ever before. With 240 total horsepower and an EPA estimated 34 combined mpg, it's a 17-percent improvement over the previous generation Highlander Hybrid. And in another first, the Highlander Hybrid is now available in 2WD or 4WD, which enables a whole new group of buyers to experience Toyota hybrid technology. Like all Toyota Hybrid SUVs, the Highlander Hybrid goes about its business in a seamless fashion, to the point you wouldn't even realize its doing its job.
