2019 Toyota Yaris Review

The New 2019 Toyota Yaris at Toyota of Brookfield

What is this Yaris? It is the perfect around town vehicle for city dwellers seeking bold, sporty looks, backed up by a fun-to-drive persona, with an estimated 40 mpg highway fuel economy rating and a standard Low-Speed Pre-Collision safety system and Active Safety System.

But that's not all! When new Toyota car designers were tasked with creating the new 2019 Yaris, they were told one thing: make it fun, make it efficient and make it affordable. But do your best to make sure you don't scrimp on the latest in multimedia technology. We think they've succeeded in each step.

The Fun, Efficient, & Nimble Yaris

An audaciously-styled hatchback that supplies sporty fun and premium engineering. The Yaris Hatchback will be offered in mono-spec LE and XLE trim levels with standard equipment levels that defy segment conventions.

Hunkered down in its Cab-Rearward design, makes the Yaris Hatchback appear to have a "bulldog stance" that looks like it means business.  Projecting a gutsy attitude, with lower grille and sharp-eyed headlamps, it will beat you in a stare-down. On the XLE, automatic LED headlamps incorporate daytime running lamps for prime visibility day or night.

And did we say it was no Fool for the City? With apologies to 1970's era band Foghat, we couldn't resist tossing in that song reference because frankly this new Toyota Yaris has the ability take its 161.6-inch length and virtually park itself wherever it wants to, anywhere in the city. That, and the 32.2 ft turning circle make it a nimble critter, especially when it comes to changing directions with no space all. Along the way, the Yaris's wheelbase has grown by 2.4 inches for added second row comfort, and can now swallow near 15.9 cubic feet of cargo.

Toyota has outfitted the entire line of Yaris vehicles with such standard, but premium touches as standard 16-inch aluminum alloy wheels, body-colored door handles and side mirrors with integrated LEDs, and finally a chrome exhaust finisher. The list continues with many features that are usually optional or offered only on premium models. They include smart key entry with pushbutton start, fog lights, variable intermittent windshield wipers, rear backup camera, a tilt and telescoping steering wheel, driver and front passenger illuminated sun visor mirrors and even a first aid kit

Yes, the new Toyota Yaris is even equipped with a seven-inch touchscreen display audio system that is as adept at cranking out some rock and roll as it is in dealing with the latest hip-hop beats. Capitalizing on its connectivity, the system is complete with standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as Bluetooth and voice recognition for hands-free phone operation. A standard SiriusXM satellite capable radio is onboard with a complimentary 90-day trial subscription. USB Ports and Auxiliary inputs insure connectivity for most mobile devices, and the sport steering wheel includes redundant controls so you never have to remove your hands from the wheel.

Toyota Yaris Performance

The Yaris gets its punch from a 1.5-liter inline four-cylinder engine delivering 106 horsepower. Direct injection supplies ultra-fast responsiveness that's best matched to the standard 6-speed automatic transmission. Offering quicker, more direct shifts, and greater fuel efficiency in standard mode, it offers even sportier response when you switch over to Sport mode which adds to the acceleration response.

Add in the responsive feel that comes with MacPherson struts and shocks in front and a torsion-beam rear suspension and you will instantly feel the tuned ride comfort that exemplifies the Toyota Yaris's class-above driving dynamics.
